Transport Information System Hamburg Connecting existing and new transport information and making this useful within an integrated system was the twin goal of a project to implement an internet-based transport information system for the Hamburg region. Hamburg-Consult created www.verkehrsinfo-hamburg.de for the city of Hamburg and government offices for development, environment, streets and transportation. Information covering all means of public transport within the Hamburg region and surrounding areas is available to the user at this address. Digital maps provide visual information and facilitate orientation for those seeking important places and points of travel. There are maps providing both overviews and more detailed depictions. Our success is measurable: user-statistics and online interviews demonstrate that there are many people interested in this service and they have been used as a basis for the development of a user-friendly transport information system up to 2002. |
