planfahrt: Map Display The planfahrt modules Passenger Counts, Projection, Journey Time Analysis and Route Profit & Loss provide precise operational data. However, tables of data and diagrams are not always clear enough. The Map Display module visualises such data in a clear and concise fashion. The evaluation results are displayed as a graphic layer on top of a background of a digital street map or route network map. Position related results (e.g. boarding passengers) are represented by points, circles or bar charts; section related data is represented as a linear distance between two points. What can Map Display do? The cartographical basis functionalities, which utilise the MapObjects of market leader ESRI, include, for example, - Collective representation of different evaluation results in one layer
- Allowance made for different projections and systems of coordinates
- Visualisation of different digital data/ operating figures via varying symbol sizes or shades of colour
- Maps can be exported for use in presentations as vector or raster graphics
The map display in the future Although the planfahrt Map Display shall not replace powerful GIS-tools, many new features will be added in the future, e. g.: - Visualisation of variations in time, similar to a time-lapse film sequence
- Presentation of results from planfahrt’s journey time analysis
